This is a part-time, temporary position supervised by the Youth Services Coordinator. The role requires maintaining high energy and enthusiasm while interacting with children, teenagers, and adult patrons. Significant time will be spent on feet conducting dynamic activities such as storytimes, games, science projects, and crafts. The role requires maintaining enthusiasm and physical stamina while engaging with young patrons and families in an active library environment. Some artistic, theater, and/or public speaking experience is preferred. The position involves providing courteous and respectful assistance to the public, locating materials, instructing patrons on library resources, and promoting library programs. It requires acute sensory awareness, including the ability to hear and respond to patrons in various noise levels and sufficient visual acuity to read text on book spines. The clerk will also plan, prepare, and deliver engaging library programs, handle logistics, set up and refresh book displays, assist with food-related events, track attendance statistics, set up audio/visual technology, prepare program materials, and maintain the neatness of the Youth Services desk and surrounding areas. Participation in staff meetings, trainings, and other library projects is also required, along with maintaining confidentiality and positive working relationships.
