About The Position

The Library Technician position provides law and general library services to prisoners at the Bellamy Creek Correctional Facility. Responsible for callouts for all functions in the library area. Functions independently much of the time and makes decisions on various tasks regardless of whether the librarian is on site. This position is performing senior level assignments by overseeing the legal writer program, ordering and maintaining materials, and preparing reports.

Requirements

  • Completion of two years of college (60 semester or 90 term credits) with 15 semester (24 term) credits in library technology, audio-visual technology, or media technology.
  • Library Technician 8: No specific type or amount is required.
  • Library Technician 9: One year of experience equivalent to a Library Technician 8.
  • Library Technician E10: Two years of experience equivalent to a Library Technician, including one year equivalent to a Library Technician 9.
  • Library Technician 11: Three years of experience equivalent to a Library Technician, including one year equivalent to a Library Technician E10.
  • Four years of office support experience in a library setting, two years of which shall have been equivalent to the experienced (E7) level, may be substituted for the education requirement.
  • Must identify specific work experience for each position held including the beginning and ending dates of employment (month and year, hours worked per week).
  • Must provide at least three professional references and their contact information (phone number and email address). Current MDOC employees must include their current supervisor as one of three professional references.
  • Must complete Non-Custody New Employee Training (NCNET) (40 or 80 hours of initial in-person training based on offender contact and job classification) and additional online training.
