About The Position

This position involves supervising the daily operations of a section or service area within a department of the library, including training. Responsibilities include maintaining files, preparing various types of materials for public use, searching bibliographies, preparing reports, keeping financial and statistical records, typing correspondence, and providing information and assistance to the public. The role also involves collecting money for fines and lost books, and preparing deposits. Requirements

  • Knowledge of library techniques and procedures
  • Knowledge of the use of a personal computer, tablet and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to work well with the public and other employees
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
  • Ability to follow written and oral instructions
  • Ability to operate cash register, calculator, tablet and personal computer
  • Ability to type 35 words per minute
  • Ability to supervise small groups of employees (full-time and part-time)
  • Ability to assist the public with internet searches, online job applications, creating email accounts, etc.
  • Associate degree and one year library experience or high school graduate, or equivalent, and two to four years library experience
