About The Position

Performs various technical library duties in Circulation and Reserves. Serves Students. Provides professional, courteous customer service at service counters and throughout the library. Checks out, renews, and checks in library materials; registers patrons and issues or updates library cards; and sorts and routes returned materials to appropriate locations. Maintains the organization and order of print and media collections. Assists with basic troubleshooting of printing and technology resources and refers more complex issues to the Library Specialist–Circulation. Provides support with VR setup and casting sessions for VR reservations, offers basic assistance with the One Button Studio for video recording, and helps resolve other technology-related issues as needed. Processes and prepares library materials in all formats for circulation and use. Inspects materials for damage and performs minor repairs as needed. Performs a variety of technical library support duties, including searching the online catalog across multiple modules, updating holdings and patron records, researching material costs and bibliographic information online, processing daily reports and mail, and issuing overdue and billing notices. Operates a cash register to process payments for lost or damaged materials and printing services. Receives and records information related to lost materials. Provides support in training student employees. Provides general information about library hours, services, policies, and materials. Refers reference questions to appropriate staff. Provides general campus information as needed. Supports and participates in strategic planning initiatives and performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma, equivalent
  • Applicants may indicate any additional language proficiencies in their application materials, including English/Spanish, as relevant to the position
  • Knowledge of and ability to interpret, apply, and follow college policies and procedures
  • Knowledge of or ability to maintain organizational structure, workflow, and operating procedures
  • Knowledge of library systems, cataloging processes, and metadata standards
  • Knowledge of library circulation and patron service practices
  • Skill in current technologies and word processing, database, presentation, and spreadsheet software, specifically Microsoft Office applications, Windows, college system platforms, software, and applications especially those specific to the department operations
  • Skill and ability to be self-directed and to manage one’s own time
  • Skill in performing a variety of duties, often changing from one task to another of a different nature
  • Skill in organizing and maintaining physical and digital library records
  • Skill in accurate data entry and database record management
  • Skill in accurately processing payments and maintaining transaction records
  • Ability to complete all departmental and/or institutional mandatory training or development
  • Ability to organize, prioritize, follow multiple projects and tasks through to completion, with close attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and contribute to a collaborative team environment
