About The Position
The City of Homer is seeking a Part-Time Library Technician I for a 24 hours/week position. This role involves staffing the public service desk, shelving materials, and assisting library patrons. The position may also include other support tasks such as assisting with public programming or maintaining library materials.
Requirements
- Graduation from an accredited two-year college or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Minimum of one year recent paid experience in public-facing work, preferably in a library setting
- Knowledge of standard library functions and organization
- Knowledge of general reference materials and search techniques
- Knowledge of Dewey Decimal classification system
- Knowledge of use of online catalog
- Knowledge of customer service principles and techniques
- Knowledge of reference and reader's advisory
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office software
- Working knowledge of modern office equipment
- Working knowledge of general office procedures
- Ability to communicate clearly in English, both orally and in writing
