The Library Security Assistant for the Indianapolis Public Library is to perform both customer service and security responsibilities. This includes checking the entire building and securing points of entry, exits, and interior areas during the day and at opening/closing. The role ensures patron and staff compliance with general safety/security rules and regulations and adherence to the Behavioral Policy set forth by IndyPL. The assistant will also manage and report accidents and incidents that occur on library property. This position functions as part of a department or branch public services team to provide high quality and equitable internal and external customer service. When not directly addressing patron behavior issues, this position is expected to provide general customer service to patrons and perform general library clerical duties.
