About The Position

This is a year-round, part-time position responsible for supporting the circulation of library materials and maintaining an organized collection by conducting basic operation of the Automated Material Handling system (AMH) and sorting and shelving materials. The role requires evening and rotating Saturday hours.

  • Occasional lifting, bending, stooping, and retrieving files or boxes weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Operation of office equipment involving repetitive hand and finger movements.

Responsibilities

  • Empty book drops and load returned materials onto the Automated Material Handling (AMH) system.
  • Unpack and load courier deliveries onto the AMH system.
  • Operate the AMH system, including responding to routine alarms and performing basic reset procedures for full bins or blocked sensors.
  • Inspect returned materials for completeness and condition.
  • Complete documentation for materials requiring billing due to damage or missing parts.
  • Sort materials from AMH bins onto carts for shelving.
  • Remove materials from the AMH exceptions bin and prepare them for check-in by other library staff.
  • Shelve library materials accurately and efficiently according to established procedures.
  • Maintain orderly shelving areas and assist with keeping the collection organized.
  • Provide courteous interactions with patrons while referring service, reference or account questions to appropriate library staff.
  • Maintain confidentiality of information regarding patrons’ use of library materials, programs and services.
