About The Position

The Library Marketing & Assessment Manager is a professional staff member who leads the integration of marketing, communications, web strategy, and data-driven assessment for the University Library. This position blends creative storytelling with institutional analytics to ensure that the library’s collections, services, spaces, and impact are clearly understood, strategically promoted, and measurably supported. The Manager supervises a team of five student employees and directs promotional strategy across print, digital, web, and physical environments. Equally important, this role gathers, analyzes, and translates data from all library departments into compelling narratives that inform policy decisions, budget planning, strategic initiatives, and campus engagement. This position plays a central role in shaping how the library is perceived, funded, and supported across the university.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Graphic Design, Web Design, Business, Data Analytics, Public Relations, or related field.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years in marketing, communications, analytics, or related professional work.
  • Proficiency in web design and content management systems (CMS).
  • Proficiency in professional design and media software, including: Adobe Creative Cloud (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere Pro, After Effects).
  • Video editing software, experience using analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics, social media insights platforms, or similar tools).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret data and translate findings into actionable recommendations.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Demonstrated leadership potential and ability to supervise student employees.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive marketing and communications strategy aligned with university branding and institutional priorities.
  • Ensure consistent branding across web, social media, print, signage, newsletters, and campus communications.
  • Create targeted messaging that engages students, supports faculty collaboration, and communicates value to administrators.
  • Translate complex library services and data into compelling, accessible stories for diverse audiences.
  • Collaborate with all library departments to identify, collect, and track meaningful operational and engagement data, including: Website analytics, Social media engagement, Collection usage statistics, Instructional impact, programming attendance , service desk and research support data.
  • Assist departments in determining which metrics should be consistently tracked to demonstrate impact and growth.
  • Analyze trends and synthesize findings to guide marketing strategy, purchasing priorities, service improvements, and engagement efforts.
  • Develop dashboards, data summaries, and visual reports that support evidence-based decision-making.
  • Lead the development and design of the library’s annual report in collaboration with the Library Director.
  • Prepare data-informed narratives and visual infographics for university administration and budget personnel.
  • Translate assessment findings into reports that support funding requests and strategic planning conversations.
  • Contribute data analysis to the development of the library’s annual and multi-year strategic plans.
  • Identify growth opportunities and emerging trends that inform next-year priorities.
  • Design, maintain, and optimize the library’s website for usability, accessibility, engagement, and search discoverability (SEO best practices).
  • Monitor and analyze website performance using analytics tools.
  • Oversee digital storytelling across social media, newsletters, and email campaigns to increase engagement and awareness.
  • Ensure all digital platforms reflect the mission, ethos, and strategic goals of the library.
  • Plan and promote major library events that increase campus participation and visibility.
  • Direct environmental signage and building messaging aligned with campus planning standards.
  • Ensure policies, procedures, and services are clearly and attractively communicated within library spaces.
  • Supervise and mentor five student employees supporting graphic design, web updates, social media, video production, data visualization, and content creation.
  • Provide professional training in marketing strategy, analytics, design tools, and storytelling through data.
  • Manage workflows, timelines, and quality control to ensure professional-level output.
