About The Position

The Part-time Library Circulation Supervisor is responsible for providing exceptional customer service and support to college students, faculty, and staff and the general public with focus on providing assistance for Library services. Requirements

  • Associates degree from an institution accredited by an institutional accrediting body of higher learning recognized by the US Department of Education
  • Two years’ customer service-related experience
  • Knowledge of and ability to follow college and library policies and procedures
  • Knowledge of library and office equipment, including but not limited to computers, printers, photocopiers.
  • Knowledge of current technologies, word processing, databases, presentation, and spreadsheet software, specifically Microsoft Office applications
  • Skill in learning new computer applications, databases, and systems
  • Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing, and to relate to others in a professional, helpful manner
  • Ability to relate to a diverse population in a professional and helpful manner, and to maintain composure when faced with difficult situations
  • Ability to multi-task and organize, prioritize, and follow multiple projects and tasks through to completion with an attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently while contributing to team environment
  • Ability to analyze problems, identify solutions, and take appropriate actions to resolve problems using independent judgment and decision-making processes
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, staff, faculty, students and the public
  • Ability to work under pressure with frequent interruptions
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality

  • Preference may be given to individuals with library work experience
  • An equivalent combination of education and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved may be considered.

Responsibilities

  • Supervises Library student workers; provides exceptional customer services to students, employees, and the public; duties may include circulation, social media, interlibrary loan, reserves, and processing
  • Assists students, faculty, staff and community patrons with the circulation and utilization of resources; provides technical support and assistance as needed; and provides explanation of services offered
  • Assists with special projects, including preparing routine reports as necessary
  • Performs other related duties as assigned
