About The Position

The City of Chandler Community Services Department is seeking qualified individuals for a full-time Library Assistant position at the Basha Library. This role is scheduled to work Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with potential for evening and weekend hours as needed. The Community Services Department enhances the quality of life in Chandler through diverse and affordable educational and recreational experiences, creating community through people, parks, and programs. The Chandler Public Library inspires intellectual discovery, creative entertainment, and lifelong learning through robust information resources, connecting communities to knowledge and new ideas. The library system comprises four libraries, a collection of nearly 500,000 books and DVDs, and a variety of digital resources, aiming to bring people, information, and ideas together. The libraries focus on advancing literacy and championing inclusive learning experiences for all by fostering accessibility and embracing new technology.

Requirements

  • Some High School education.
  • 1 year of customer service experience involving frequent public contact.
  • A valid Driver's License with an acceptable driving record.
  • Proficiency in using basic computer applications.
  • Ability to quickly learn new software and library systems.
  • Ability to work effectively in a busy public library environment, including frequent interaction with children and teens ages 9–17 during after-school hours.
  • Reliable and dependable.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team.

Responsibilities
