About The Position

Immanuel Christian School, located near Washington, D.C., is seeking a Librarian for the 2026-27 academic year. Requirements

  • Earned a Baccalaureate degree, preferably in education.
  • Be regenerated by the Holy Spirit through personal faith in Jesus Christ by the acceptance of Jesus Christ as Savior.
  • Have a working knowledge of the Bible.
  • Complete studies in the Christian Philosophy of Education.

Nice To Haves

  • Work toward an Association of Christian Schools International teaching license upon entering into contract.
  • Complete requirements for a professional ACSI teaching license.
  • State licensure is recommended.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a daily personal devotional life.
  • Demonstrate love and obedience to Christ and His word.
  • Attend an evangelical church and serve in a church ministry.
  • Share in leading faculty devotions.
  • Provide written teaching plans as required by administration, incorporating the school’s scope and sequence or other approved curriculum.
  • Develop a plan and method for evaluating student work.
  • Request instructional equipment and supplies.
  • Prepare materials and use resources to support instruction.
  • Clearly communicate the objectives and relevance of the material being taught.
  • Integrate biblical principles as appropriate.
  • Evaluate student understanding and mastery of content.
  • Demonstrate command of and enthusiasm for the subject matter.
  • Utilize a variety of teaching methods, materials, media, and evaluation tools.
  • Provide reference to other disciplines and life examples to transfer, expand, and enrich learning.
  • Utilize effective classroom and instructional management techniques.
  • Reflect a Christ-like spirit in dealing with student-teacher and student-student relationships.
  • Recognize the value of time-on-task and demonstrate good use of instructional and planning periods.
  • Arrange the physical environment to complement the learning atmosphere.
  • Maintain accurate and complete school records.
  • Maintain effective communication with students, parents, team members, faculty, office staff, and administration.
  • Clearly communicate compassion and empathy to all students.
  • Reflect a Christ-like spirit in dealing with conflicts and personal issues.
  • Arrive punctually and attend all scheduled duties, programs, and meetings.
  • Serve on committees for evaluating curriculum, textbooks, operational procedures, special events, and services.
  • Uphold and enforce school rules, administrative regulations, school board policies, and support the goals and objectives of the school.
  • Maintain a professional attitude and collaborate with colleagues and administration.
  • Maintain personal appearance in a professionally appropriate manner.
