A Librarian Supervisor position is available at the Fort Worth Public Library at the Summerglen Library. The ideal candidate is customer-focused, enthusiastic about bringing library services to people in the community, and comfortable working with diverse populations including people of all ages, backgrounds, dispositions, and abilities. Requirements

  • Master’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in library and information sciences, Public Administration, Business Administration, Sociology, Human Relations or a closely related field
  • Three (3) years of professional library experience

  • Skill in using exceptional interpersonal and leadership skills that build and maintain strategic relationships with internal and external customers

Responsibilities

  • Planning, organizing, and directing the day-to-day operations and staff of a branch library to ensure efficient and effective public service
  • Providing excellent customer service, including answering questions and helping customers locate materials and services of interest
  • Interpreting policy and procedures and resolving daily operational and customer issues
  • Ensuring that the location is well-ordered, appealing, and inviting; Manages the location’s overall collection, including promotion, maintenance, and weeding
  • Supervising staff, including planning and assigning work, performance management, scheduling, addressing complaints and resolving problems; training staff on basic job functions
  • Planning, implementing, and evaluating local outreach programs and services in conjunction with staff
  • Evaluates/assesses Library standards and services at location
  • Assisting customers with basic computer needs and emerging technologies
