Washington County is seeking a Librarian Supervisor to help lead daily operations at one of their branch libraries. In this rewarding role, you'll supervise library staff, support branch operations, assist patrons with a wide range of library services, and help create a welcoming environment where community members can learn, explore, and connect. Requirements

  • Knowledge of public library operations, reference services, circulation, and collection development
  • Strong leadership and supervisory skills with the ability to coach, train, and motivate employees
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build positive working relationships with staff, patrons, and community partners
  • Ability to interpret and apply library policies and procedures while exercising independent judgment
  • Strong problem-solving, conflict resolution, and decision-making abilities
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and library computer systems, or the ability to quickly learn new technology
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities while maintaining a high level of public service
  • Bachelor's degree AND three (3) years of experience in a public library setting (supervisory experience preferred) OR an equivalent combination of education and experience

Responsibilities

  • Supervise, schedule, train, and support assigned library staff
  • Coordinate daily workflow and help ensure efficient branch operations
  • Provide exceptional customer service and assist patrons with library resources, policies, and services
  • Help resolve patron concerns and support staff in difficult situations
  • Assist with opening and closing the library and help maintain building security
  • Monitor the facility for cleanliness, safety, and maintenance needs
  • Evaluate employee performance, provide coaching, and support staff development
  • Assist with circulation, reference, children's services, meeting room scheduling, and other branch functions as assigned
  • Support collection development, technology services, and special library projects
  • Serve as a resource for library policies, procedures, and best practices
