About The Position

The San Bernardino County Library is seeking a creative, collaborative, and service-oriented Librarian II to join our Library Administration team. This unique assignment offers the opportunity to influence library services across 32 branch libraries serving the largest geographical county in the United States. Working alongside Library leadership, this position will help shape programs, collections, outreach initiatives, volunteer engagement, and customer experience that serve residents from cradle to career and beyond. Under general direction, the Librarian II assigned to Library Administration will assist with the planning, coordination, implementation, and evaluation of countywide library initiatives and services.

Requirements

  • OPTION 1: EDUCATION: A completed bachelor's degree or 120 semester units (180 quarter units) from an accredited college or university. EXPERIENCE: One (1) year of full-time equivalent lead worker or supervisory experience in a library, retail, educational or customer service related industry.
  • OPTION 2: EDUCATION: A completed Associate degree or 60 semester units (90 quarter units) from an accredited college or university. EXPERIENCE: Three (3) years of full-time equivalent lead worker or supervisory experience in a library, retail, educational or customer service related industry.
  • Candidates must be able to present their legal right to work in the United States at the time of employment.

Responsibilities

  • Assisting with the development, implementation, and evaluation of systemwide library programs and special events.
  • Supporting collection development by evaluating materials, analyzing usage trends, and recommending additions and improvements to the library collection.
  • Coordinating community outreach efforts and cultivating partnerships with schools, community organizations, government agencies, and other stakeholders.
  • Assisting with the recruitment, training, coordination, and recognition of Library volunteers.
  • Developing marketing and promotional materials to increase awareness and participation in library programs and services.
  • Supporting customer service initiatives and helping ensure an exceptional experience for library patrons across the system.
  • Assisting with countywide events, campaigns, and strategic initiatives.
  • Collaborating with branch staff and Library Administration to identify emerging community needs and develop innovative service solutions.
  • Collecting and analyzing program and service data to evaluate effectiveness and recommend improvements.
  • Providing professional guidance, training, and support to branch staff related to assigned projects and initiatives.
  • Representing the Library at community meetings, outreach events, and professional organizations.
  • Performing other related duties as assigned.
