About The Position

Provo City is looking for a new part-time Library Assistant to provide library services supporting the Adult & Teen Services department of the Provo City Library. The individual appointed to this position will be required to assist in providing interlibrary loan services to library patrons. This position also involves communicating with and assisting library patrons. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
  • Assistant I: Six months of job-related experience.
  • Assistant II: One year of experience as a Library Assistant I OR 1.5 years of comparable experience (including 20 hours in reference).
  • Applications will be reviewed in the order they are submitted, with the first screening being held on April 16, 2026.
  • Applicants must meet the minimum qualifications listed above to be eligible for consideration.
  • If selected for hire, candidate will be required to successfully pass a drug screen and criminal background check.
  • Non-disclosure may result in dismissal.
  • Applicants with unsatisfactory drug screen results will be ineligible for appointment or application to any Provo City position for a minimum period of six (6) months.

Nice To Haves

  • Library experience preferred.
  • Strong public relations skills desired.

Responsibilities

  • Perform data entry.
  • Handle user accounts.
  • Handle incoming interlibrary loan mail.
  • Process interlibrary loan borrowing and lending materials and requests.
  • Package and prepare materials for shipment.
  • Meter and mail outgoing interlibrary loan mail.
  • Correspond with library patrons via phone and email
  • Accept and handle cash in conformance with approved procedures.
  • Sort donations and delete items from the library's database.
  • Perform miscellaneous clerical functions.
  • Perform other related duties as required.
