We’re seeking an experienced Liability Underwriter to join our forward-thinking team. In this role, you’ll underwrite complex Multinational business, provide expert guidance, and influence key underwriting decisions. You’ll build strong broker relationships, apply technical expertise to deliver meaningful results, and stay ahead of industry trends. As a trusted leader, you’ll also support product innovation and play a vital role in developing talent, coaching and mentoring Underwriters and Assistant Underwriters within a collaborative, dynamic environment. Requirements

  • Experience in underwriting liability insurance is essential; exposure to multinational accounts is highly desirable.
  • Proven technical expertise in underwriting large, complex accounts, with strong knowledge of pricing, rating, and valuation tools.
  • Skilled in analysing data, policy wordings, and risk profiles to support sound underwriting decisions.
  • Strong market awareness with a track record of broker relationship development and new business generation.
  • Excellent communication, influencing, and negotiation skills, with the ability to prioritise and stay organised in a dynamic environment.
  • Proficient in Excel and underwriting systems, with a solid understanding of legal, regulatory, and compliance requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Underwrite new and existing business by analysing clients’ business operation, current coverage and previous claims experience to determine exposure and set appropriate terms and premiums.
  • Develop a pipeline of qualified account opportunities within appetite and utilise sales acumen, relationship and creative problem-solving to create winning solutions and to ensure growth targets are met.
  • Adherence to the underwriting framework by following internal guidelines, regulatory and legal requirements and reinsurance requirements while demonstrating the adoption of good practices to ensure compliance and minimise risk.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders including customers, brokers, business partners and colleagues by providing personalised and quality customer service.
  • Utilise knowledge of market dynamics and market cycles to operate effectively and appropriately.
  • Negotiate rates, terms and conditions for existing and new business and renewals; managing production and issue contract certainty documentation within set timeframe.
  • Ensure compliance with internal and external regulations and guidelines ensuring contribution to the business plan and objectives
  • Participate in the review and analysis of the portfolio to identify progress toward business objectives
  • Contribute to the aggregate management and peer review processes to encourage and develop excellence.
