Levine Children’s Genetic Counselor III Department: 38809 Carolinas Medical Center - LCH: Child Specialty Clinic Status: Full time Benefits Eligible: Yes Hou rs Per Week: 40 Schedule Details/Additional Information: Monday - Friday 8am - 5pm Pay Range $43.30 - $64.95 Major Responsibilities: Provides comprehensive genetic counseling and testing to patients including interpreting clinical/laboratory findings and conveying them to patients and providers Assesses psychosocial situations and offers support. Educates patients regarding the risks and benefits of specific medical procedures so that they can provide informed consent. Works directory with laboratory providers in ordering necessary genetic or related tests, and evaluates the test results once received. Coordinates with non-ACL labs to arrange for reference testing and other services not provided by ACL Participates in multidisciplinary or specialty clinic meetings and projects as the genetics expert. Provides technical advice, policy interpretation, and guidance for application of appropriate procedures to AAH staff and administrators Leads a division level improvement project(s) benefitting patient care and the provision of genetics services Participates in the development and presentation of genetics educations programs for genetic counselors, physicians, other health professionals and lay populations. Serves as a mentor/coach for new team members including Entry level genetic counselors, GCI, GCII.
