About The Position

9fin is seeking a reporter to join its leveraged finance team. The role involves diving into fast-moving, opaque, and complex financial markets, building a source base, and delivering market-moving insights and scoops. The position offers support and training in news-gathering, writing, interviewing, and understanding the markets covered by 9fin.

Requirements

• Proven interest in journalism.
• Experience writing for a publication.
• Wish to join a rapidly-growing platform winning market share and attracting high-quality readership from financial professionals.
• Proven interest in finance, economics, and markets, and understanding of basic concepts and terminology.
• Team player who can collaborate with other reporters on stories.
• Desire to build strong sourcing relationships across finance professionals and embed deeply as a crucial part of the market.
• Ability to write concise and fluent English that makes technical topics accessible and engaging.
• Ambitions to carve out a coverage area and build your own reputation as a financial journalist.

Responsibilities

• Source-building with bankers, investors, traders, lawyers, and other key players in the credit markets.
• Writing on and off-diary content covering markets.
• Working with other members of the team to confirm information and produce collaborative content.
• Attending source meetings, conferences, briefings, and other occasions to build and maintain source relationships.
• Receiving formal and informal training in interviewing, source-building, news writing, media law, and financial markets.
