About The Position

This senior position requires the ability to serve in a key capacity as the technical lead for planning and design of federal and other civil works projects, while playing a leading role in advancing Hanson’s federal government civil works efforts across its geographic footprint. Requirements

  • Experience working on multidisciplinary teams delivering civil works projects.
  • Proficiency across all phases of civil works projects, including feasibility studies, design, and engineering during construction.
  • Ability to lead and facilitate design and construction meetings with internal teams, clients, and contractors.
  • Working knowledge of earned value management and project management software tools.
  • Strong client relationship skills with the ability to serve as a trusted advisor.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with subconsultants and maintain professional partnerships.
  • Strong proposal development skills, including cost estimating, technical writing, and communication.
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Geotechnical, Structural, or Civil Engineering.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in civil works projects.
  • Experience with levees, dams, and flood risk management projects.
  • Experience with concrete dams.
  • Knowledge of dam safety practices and permitting processes.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage civil works and flood damage reduction projects across all phases, including scope development, staffing, budgeting, earned value management, scheduling, and client relationship management.
  • Direct the daily activities of project staff.
  • Prepare and assemble plans and contract documents.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including water resources, civil, mechanical, electrical, structural, and architectural staff.
  • Apply sound risk management practices throughout project lifecycles and ensure adherence to Hanson quality assurance standards.
  • Participate in performance evaluations of project staff.
  • Coordinate project priorities with technical teams.
  • Mentor engineering staff and promote growth in civil works and geotechnical engineering capabilities.
  • Support strategic business development initiatives related to civil works and flood damage reduction projects.
  • Contribute to business development planning and meetings.
  • Collaborate with regional and market leaders on client development and selection strategies.
  • Assist in developing strategic pursuits and proposals.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships to support business growth.
  • Support both external market expansion and internal strategic initiatives.
