Part Time On Call LEMA Worker
About The Position
The Village of Lemont is seeking dependable, motivated, and community-minded individuals to join the Lemont Emergency Management Agency (LEMA) in a PAID Part-Time On-Call Position. This role offers an opportunity to gain real-world emergency management experience while working alongside public safety professionals and supporting the community during events and emergency operations. LEMA provides emergency and non-emergency assistance and mutual aid to surrounding communities. This position is suitable for college students in related fields or individuals seeking community service, skill-building, and hands-on experience. As a Part-Time LEMA Member, you will support community events like parades, festivals, and street fairs, and may assist with first aid, shelter operations, emergency planning, disaster response support, and traffic/crowd assistance. This is a non-sworn position with no law enforcement authority.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Valid driver’s license with a good driving record.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- CPR certification required within three months of hire.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to interact professionally and courteously with the public.
- Ability to work independently.
- Ability to follow standard operating procedures.
- Ability to safely operate Village vehicles in various weather conditions.
- Ability to effectively communicate over the public safety radio network.
- Ability to remain calm and professional in fast-paced or stressful situations.

- Prior emergency management or public safety experience is preferred.
