About The Position

At the Michigan Department of Lifelong Education, Advancement, and Potential (MiLEAP), we are focused on improving opportunities and outcomes for Michiganders from preschool to postsecondary. MiLEAP was created in July 2023 and is the newest department in the State of Michigan. This position is responsible for directing the legislative activities for MiLEAP. The position serves as the legislative liaison and strategizes to build relationships between MiLEAP and the Governor's legislative affairs team, executive agencies, Legislator's offices, House and Senate committee chairs, Legislative agencies (i.e., House Fiscal Agency, Senate Fiscal Agency), other state departments and local units of government and educational institutions.

Requirements

• Possession of a bachelor's degree in any major.
• Four years of professional experience.
• Attach resume, cover letter, and applicable official transcripts to your application.
• Official transcript must bear the college/university certification (e.g., seal, logo, watermark, and /or letterhead), Registrar's signature, and date.
• A transcript with these requirements, with the stamp "Issued to Student" is accepted as an official transcript.
• Unofficial transcripts will NOT be accepted.
• The official transcript must be scanned and attached to the electronic NEOGOV Civil Service application with one of the following file extensions: pdf, doc, docx, txt, or rft.
• Degree certificates are not accepted.
• When attaching transcripts, please name the college/university for each transcript attached.

Responsibilities

• Directing the legislative activities for the Michigan Department of Lifelong Education, Advancement, and Potential (MiLEAP).
• Serving as the legislative liaison.
• Strategizing to build relationships between MiLEAP and the Governor's legislative affairs team, executive agencies, Legislator's offices, House and Senate committee chairs, Legislative agencies (i.e., House Fiscal Agency, Senate Fiscal Agency), other state departments and local units of government and educational institutions.
