About The Position

The Legal Operations Manager supports GumGum’s entire legal operations function. Reporting to the Associate General Counsel, the Legal Operations Manager will assist the Legal Team in all aspects of negotiation and management of contracts including inventory/media terms (for all digital media buying) with publishers & network partners. As a liaison with internal stakeholders, the Legal Operations Manager plays a critical role in balancing the workload of the Legal Team, helping internal stakeholders realize business objectives by understanding and adhering to processes, assisting GumGum in its compliance and risk management, and improving the overall efficiency of GumGum’s contracting process. The Legal Operations Manager must have experience working with purchasing documents (order forms and insertion orders) and the terms and conditions that govern them, with an ability to push towards closure. They should have a solid understanding of the basic mechanics of contract formulation, contractual requirements, standard terms and provisions, including the advertising ecosystem, and a desire to learn more as the industry evolves. The ideal candidate will have some prior negotiation experience at a brand, ad exchange, or agency, as well as exposure to digital media buying. Note: GumGum fosters a flexible work environment, offering GumGummers the ability to work either in-office or remotely/from home. However, for occasional in-person collaboration, we kindly ask that this position be located within a 'commutable' distance to our office.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience within an in-house legal team at an AdTech, advertising agency, or digital media company, with a deep understanding of programmatic advertising and agency operations.
  • Proven track record in contract management, drafting, and negotiating complex T&Cs, MSAs, and I/Os with clients, media partners, and advertising vendors.
  • Extensive experience partnering with cross-functional teams to develop, streamline, and improve legal-operational workflows.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail, with a proven ability to prioritize multiple negotiations, meet tight deadlines, and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with a unique ability to translate complex legal concepts into clear, actionable advice for stakeholders at all levels.
  • Highly proficient in MS Word (specifically Track Changes), Google Suite, and modern Contract Lifecycle Management (CLM) or legal ops software.
  • A self-motivated professional who works well independently, learns new substantive legal matters quickly, and is comfortable wearing "many hats" to support shifting priorities.
  • A proactive professional with a solid foundational understanding of Artificial Intelligence (AI), including its operational benefits and potential legal risks.

Responsibilities

  • Own the end-to-end lifecycle of critical contracts (including MSAs, I/Os, SaaS agreements, and NDAs) with key partners, agencies, publishers, and vendors.
  • Act as the primary administrator for legal tools, leading the evolution of our current contract request platform and spearheading the selection and adoption of a new CLM solution.
  • Drive seamless collaboration at the intersection of Legal and internal teams (IT, HR, Finance) while continuously identifying and implementing process improvements.
  • Develop and deliver ongoing training to internal teams on legal review processes, contracting requirements, policy compliance, and CLM tool adoption.
  • Oversee and update the company’s legal resource knowledge base, template repository, clause library, and approval matrices to streamline future negotiations.
  • Manage the compliance and administration of corporate entities across multiple jurisdictions, tracking vital registrations, annual reports, and regulatory requirements.
  • Act as a trusted resource for internal stakeholders and directly manage responses to legal or compliance inquiries and questionnaires from clients and partners.
  • Partner closely with internal counsel to support complex contract negotiations and regulatory compliance, stepping in to tackle ad hoc legal projects as the team grows.
