About The Position

As an NBCUniversal Academic Year intern, you will engage in real projects, contribute to a collaborative culture, and receive support for your growth over two full semesters. This internship program emphasizes impact, offering the chance to contribute to meaningful work while developing essential skills. It is designed for curious, driven individuals excited about media, entertainment, and technology, providing an environment for daily learning and growth. The program runs from September 21, 2026, to April 23, 2027, requiring a time commitment of 16-24 hours per week, with schedules determined based on business needs and accommodating course schedules. Opportunities require interns to work onsite in Washington, DC. Areas of placement include Corporate Legal – Compliance (JD-level), focusing on consumer protection compliance, and Corporate Legal – Government Affairs (JD-level), addressing regulatory, legislative, and public policy matters.

Requirements

  • Must be actively enrolled in a degree-granting program at an accredited institution during the entire duration of the program (September 2026 through April 2027).
  • December 2026 graduates are not eligible for this Academic Year Internship Program.
  • Current class standing of sophomore or above (30 credits).
  • Must be presently authorized to work for any employer in the United States and must not require work visa sponsorship from NBCUniversal now or in the future to retain authorization to work in the United States.
  • Must be available to work 16-24 hours per week from September 21, 2026 – April 23, 2027.
  • Must be willing to work in Washington, DC.
  • Candidates currently on any student or exchange visa (e.g. F-1 CPT, F-1 OPT, J-1, M-1) are not eligible to apply unless they will be able to change or adjust to another status that grants work authorization without NBCUniversal sponsorship.
  • Any candidate receiving an internship offer must complete I-9 form with Social Security number within 3 days of hire.

Nice To Haves

  • Must be a current J.D. candidate in good standing.
  • Current class standing of 2L or above preferred.
  • Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above.
  • For Corporate Legal – Compliance: Demonstrated interest in consumer protection and other areas of compliance, regulatory matters, or in-house legal work.
  • For Corporate Legal – Government Affairs: Coursework or experience in administrative and copyright law; Interest in the broadcast, digital media, and telecommunications industries.

Responsibilities

  • Support the broader Global Compliance team with a special focus on the Consumer Protection Compliance practice (for Corporate Legal – Compliance).
  • Prepare briefing memos, talking points, comment summaries, and other written materials (for Corporate Legal – Government Affairs).
  • Attend virtual and in-person hearings, conferences, and events (for Corporate Legal – Government Affairs).
  • Partner with team members to determine the impact of federal actions on the organization (for Corporate Legal – Government Affairs).
  • Develop presentations and other written materials on findings (for Corporate Legal – Government Affairs).
  • Act as an internal consultant to the government affairs team (for Corporate Legal – Government Affairs).
