About The Position

The Office of the Queens County District Attorney is seeking applicants for its Summer Legal Internship program, running from June 7, 2027, through August 6, 2027. This competitive internship is open to second-year law students (2L) and offers a unique opportunity to learn about the Queens District Attorney's Office, serving the most diverse county in the nation. Interns will collaborate closely with Assistant District Attorneys, gaining practical experience and knowledge as advocates and public servants. The ideal candidate will possess a strong interest in public service and criminal law.

Requirements

  • Currently a second-year law student (2L).
  • Demonstrated interest in public service and criminal law.
  • Ability to work in person Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
  • Must upload a resume, cover letter, and unofficial transcript.

Responsibilities

  • Engage in various aspects of prosecutorial work, including research and writing for pending cases.
  • Assist with motion and discovery practice.
  • Support search warrant applications.
  • Observe proffers.
  • Conduct civilian and police interviews.
  • Attend court appearances under the student practice order.
  • Visit crime scenes.
  • Participate in community outreach programs with the Community Partnerships Division.
  • Attend divisional and office-wide legal training sessions.

Benefits

  • Stipend of $900 per week.
  • Supplementation of partial outside funding by QDA funding.
  • Limited housing available for non-NYC domiciled students on a case-by-case basis.
