About The Position

The Nebraska Department of Transportation’s (NDOT) Communications Division is offering an opportunity for a law student interested in furthering their knowledge and experience in public records administration. Requirements

  • Must be a three-fourths time student in good standing majoring in a discipline or field related to the work to be assigned.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Ability to work at least 15 hours per week.

Nice To Haves

  • A first-year or second-year law student with an interest in public law, administrative practice, or government
  • Experience with Adobe Acrobat Pro or document management systems.

Responsibilities

  • Intake, processing, and coordination of public records requests under the Nebraska Public Records Act.
  • Review responsive documents using an e-discovery platform.
  • Researching, assisting with policy reviews, and supporting other Communications Division and legal needs.
