About The Position

Dow Jones is seeking applicants for its Media Law and First Amendment Internship for Summer 2027. This 10-week paid internship program, running from June 7, 2027, to August 13, 2027, is designed to provide students with meaningful project experience and hands-on skills in a supportive and engaging environment. Interns will be paired with mentors, connected with senior leaders, and included in professional development sessions, fostering a diverse global intern community. The role is hybrid, based in Dow Jones' legal department in New York City, focusing on matters affecting publication, access to information, newsgathering, and free-speech laws, primarily working with litigation and press attorneys.

Requirements

  • One or two years of law school completed (are a first or second-year law student)
  • Demonstrated interest in and commitment to media law and a free press

Responsibilities

  • Conduct research
  • Draft memoranda
  • Help resolve the daily issues that arise in publishing The Wall Street Journal, Dow Jones Newswires, Barron’s, and other publications
  • Be exposed to matters involving business transactions, labor and employment law, intellectual property, and other issues
