About The Position

FBN’s Legal Department seeks a second or third-year law student to assist our in-house legal team with research, document organization, and internal policy projects. This internship offers exposure to complex regulations, financial technology and agricultural lending in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment.

Requirements

  • Current 2L or 3L student at an accredited law school.
  • Familiarity with the Google Workspace (formerly G Suite) platform, including Gmail, Docs, Sheets, and Calendar.
  • Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills.
  • Interest in agriculture, financial services, regulatory compliance.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a dynamic environment.
  • High level of professionalism, integrity, and attention to detail.
  • Work will be mostly remote, but candidate may be asked to attend a few in person meetings at a local co-working space.
  • Willingness to learn and master new software systems.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior internship or coursework in banking, commercial finance, or regulatory law.
  • Familiarity with UCC, licensing frameworks, or data privacy principles.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct legal research and prepare memoranda on fintech lending, state and federal agricultural inputs licensing requirements, and related regulatory issues.
  • Assist with organizing and summarizing litigation documents, discovery materials, and case files.
  • Support internal policy and compliance reviews, including drafting recommendations for procedural improvements.
  • Help maintain databases and trackers for legal matters, licenses, and regulatory filings.
  • Participate in meetings with internal stakeholders across compliance, operations, and finance teams.
  • Perform other related legal and administrative tasks as assigned.
  • Map existing contract workflows in furtherance of workflow reconfiguration project.
