About The Position

Planned Parenthood of Greater Ohio is seeking a mission-minded Legal Fellow for a one year paid fellowship. Position Summary The Legal Fellow supports the legal work of Planned Parenthood of Greater Ohio (PPGOH), a reproductive rights and healthcare nonprofit organization. This one-year, paid fellowship provides early-career legal professionals with hands-on experience in healthcare law, reproductive rights, regulatory compliance, and nonprofit operations. The Fellow conducts legal research, supports organizational risk management and healthcare compliance work, participates in litigation, and supports PPGOH’s General Counsel with various aspects of organizational legal support. Work is performed under the supervision of PPGOH’s General Counsel and may involve cross-functional project support. Requirements

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school or current enrollment in final year of JD program.
  • Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a collaborative environment.
  • Demonstrated commitment to reproductive rights, healthcare access, or social justice.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ohio Bar admission required.
  • 0–2 years of relevant legal, policy, or nonprofit experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Interest or coursework in health law, nonprofit law, constitutional law, or civil rights law.
  • Experience through internships, clinics, advocacy work, or nonprofit settings.
  • Familiarity with healthcare regulatory environments.
  • Experience working with diverse communities and/or equity-centered organizations.

Responsibilities

  • Legal Research and Analysis Conduct legal research related to reproductive healthcare, nonprofit operations, employment matters, and regulatory compliance.
  • Monitor and summarize changes in federal, state, and local laws impacting healthcare delivery and reproductive rights.
  • Prepare research memoranda, summaries, and briefing materials for leadership and internal stakeholders.
  • Policy and Compliance Support Assist in reviewing organizational policies, procedures, and practices to support legal compliance and risk mitigation.
  • Support audits, regulatory reporting, and internal compliance initiatives.
  • Help develop guidance documents and tools that translate legal requirements into operational practice.
  • Organizational Legal Support Assist with drafting, reviewing, and organizing contracts, agreements, and legal correspondence.
  • Support litigation, including interfacing with outside counsel on litigation strategy, liaising between PPGOH senior leadership and outside counsel, and supporting the discovery process including document preservation, collection, and production.
  • Collaborate with departments such as clinical operations, education, advocacy, HR, and finance on legal inquiries.
  • Equity and Mission Integration Apply a health equity and reproductive justice framework to legal research and organizational initiatives.
  • Support projects that advance equitable access to healthcare and education services.
  • Maintain confidentiality and uphold organizational values in all work activities.
  • Other duties as assigned.
