Come join WJCL, the Hearst Television station in the Savannah, GA market as an Emma Bowen Fellow this summer! WJCL is a key community partner in Savannah, providing breaking news, weather, and other information vital to local audiences through our newscasts. An ABC affiliate, WJCL also provides entertainment programming and partners with the community on important local initiatives. As an HTV Emma Bowen Fellow, you will come to understand how a television station operates and be expected to contribute to the operation. You will be engaged in the newsroom, assisting producers, editors, assignment editors, reporters, photographers, and anchors. The EBF Fellow will also have the opportunity to accompany crews in the field and may even have the opportunity to field produce on their own. What you’ll do and learn: Exposure to executive management (i.e. virtual coffee and learns, panels, etc.) Editorial process (broadcast and/or digital) Writing / storytelling Newscast producing / story selection Explore broadcast and digital marketing and learn the responsibilities of the Creative Services Department Gain an overview of the technical areas of the station (News Edit, ENG Receive, Microwave News Gathering, Satellite News Gathering, News Photography, Studio Operations, Control Room Operations, Air Operations, Maintenance, IT, etc.)
