About The Position

We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated individual who will work in our Cincinnati office and perform editing and possible legal research for publication of our codes of ordinances for a broad spectrum of clients. The successful candidate will be responsible for:

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in English, journalism, law, or a similar field.
Excellent verbal and written communication abilities
Highly organized
Able to maintain focus over long periods of time
Self-motivated and able to work independently
Committed to producing quality work within assigned deadlines
Command of English grammar, with a keen eye for detail
Proficient in word processing
Ability to sit for extended periods while working at a computer or desk
Occasional standing, walking, and reaching to access files or office supplies
Manual dexterity for typing, filing, and handling office equipment
Ability to lift and carry up to 20 pounds occasionally (e.g., office supplies, documents)
Visual acuity to read printed and digital materials
Auditory ability to communicate effectively in person and over the phone
Must be able to work in standard office environment with artificial lighting and climate control

J.D. is preferred.

Responsibilities

Organizing project materials.
Critical analysis of complex legal documents to discern impact on existing code provisions.
Editing and managing word processing files to produce a working draft and camera-ready copy.
Detailed proofreading for grammar, sense, spelling, and format.
Maintaining electronic files of current codes of ordinances in a variety of formats
Interacting with clients to provide solutions to codification issues.
Customer service follow-ups with clients.
Learning other facets of our niche business.
Compiling editorial notes.
Other duties as assigned
