About The Position

Mosaic is seeking Legal Counsel to work out of their Vancouver office. Candidates based in Nanaimo on Vancouver Island, BC will also be considered. Reporting to the VP, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary, the Legal Counsel will offer internal legal advice encompassing various commercial matters, with an emphasis on real property matters, and provide support to the organization in multiple areas of law.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree and LLB/JD;
  • Minimum 5 years of Canadian Bar experience (7+ years preferred);
  • Member in good standing with the Law Society of BC is required;
  • Expertise in Commercial Real Estate law in BC is required;
  • Excellent research, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with meticulous attention to detail;
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage and collaborate with stakeholders at all levels; and
  • Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and meet deadlines in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Preference will be given to a candidate with experience from a national or regional law firm;
  • Familiarity with a variety of Crown tenures is preferred but not required;

Responsibilities

  • Providing high quality and practical legal advice to the business team on day to day legal matters and strategic initiatives;
  • Drafting, reviewing and negotiating a wide range of legal agreements relating to commercial real estate matters, interests in land and land use, commercial contracts, employment of contractors and service providers, data licensing and more;
  • Directing and overseeing the work of external legal advisors;
  • Assisting General Counsel & Corporate Secretary with corporate governance requirements, as may be required;
  • Performing independent legal research and analysis of statutes, regulations and case law; and
  • Supporting the business team with relationships with external stakeholders.
