The Strategy and Policy Branch, within the Administrative Law Programs Division (ALP), provides policy, strategic and operational support to the division's tribunals and branches. The branch contributes to the ministry's mandate by advancing fairness, efficiency and access to justice within Alberta's public safety and justice system. Through the administration of legal matters outside the traditional court system, ALP supports timely, accessible and effective resolution processes and helps reduce demand on court resources. ALP is responsible for programs and services that provide alternatives to traditional court processes, including the Alberta Human Rights Commission, Family Support Order Services and SafeRoads Alberta. The division operates within a complex legal and policy environment involving multiple statutes, adjudicative models and governance structures. Its responsibilities include supporting procedural fairness, enabling diversion from court-based processes, and providing oversight or support to independent tribunals and government-administered programs. The Strategic and Policy Branch is seeking an experienced Legal Counsel to provide expert legal advice and leadership on administrative justice, legislative modernization, and tribunal governance across government. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to high-impact legal and policy initiatives that support fair, accessible, and effective administrative decision-making throughout Alberta. This role operates at the intersection of law, policy, and public administration, helping to shape the future of Alberta's administrative justice system.
