About The Position

Mayo Clinic is seeking an experienced attorney to join our legal team to provide expert advice and counsel to human resources, management, and physician leaders regarding employment matters, including immigration-related issues. Core job responsibilities for this role will include: Leading and working collaboratively within cross-functional teams by advising on immigration and employment law issues, which may include the following practice areas: recruitment and hiring; I-9 and E-Verify compliance; personnel performance management, discipline, and separation issues; wage and hour; nondiscrimination; disability and leave issues; employee privacy; labor relations; credentialing, peer review, and medical staff bylaws; or government contracting. Providing legal and strategic guidance to clients, including organizational leadership, on risk assessment and mitigation in support of Mayo Clinic's strategic initiatives; and Management of outside counsel. We are looking for a proactive, solution-oriented attorney who is comfortable leading and working within teams of attorneys and paraprofessionals, with demonstrated commitment to developing and empowering others. This position requires a committed but humble leader who will coordinate across the Mayo Clinic Legal Department to deliver exceptional legal services and clear, concise counsel. This is a hybrid position with negotiable remote work frequency. Incumbent must live within 100 miles of a Mayo Clinic campus in Phoenix/Scottsdale, AZ; Jacksonville, FL; Rochester, MN; or Eau Claire, WI. Periodic travel to other Mayo sites may be required.

Requirements

  • Completion of law school
  • Five or more years of employment law experience, including advising on employment matters, management of immigration-related matters, complex investigations, and litigation.
  • A strong academic background
  • Excellent communication and writing skills
  • Ability to manage multiple client relationships and understand and help meet their clients' needs and business goals.
  • Sound legal project management skills
  • Ability to effectively lead teams
  • Ability to service as a positive change agent
  • Ability to delegate work in a fast paced, team-based environment within a dynamic organization.
  • A license to practice law in Arizona, Florida, Minnesota, or Wisconsin.
