About The Position

The position of Legal Assistant is responsible for supporting our In-House Counsel. The position helps manage Subpoena requests, notices, and other legal documents along with other routine administrative tasks.

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of banking experience.
  • Associate’s degree (AA) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; or 2 years of related experience and/or training; or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Knowledge of related state and federal banking compliance regulations, and other Bank operational policies.
  • Intermediate skills in computer terminal and personal computer operation; mainframe computer system; and word processing, spreadsheet and graphical software programs.
  • Effective verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to apply common sense to carry out instructions, interpret documents, understand procedures, write reports and correspondence, and speak clearly to customers and employees.
  • Ability to deal with difficult problems involving multiple facets and variables in non-standardized situations.
  • Effective organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision while performing duties.
  • Current driver’s license and a vehicle with appropriate insurance coverage if required to drive in the course of performing assigned duties and responsibilities.

Responsibilities

  • Managing responses to Subpoena requests issued to the Bank, including reviewing responsive documents and correspondence with law firms, government entities, and other third parties.
  • Reviewing and approving various legal documents (Power of Attorney, Court Orders, Trust instruments, etc.) to ensure validity.
  • Assisting with managing Bankruptcy Court notices and filings.
  • Assisting In-House Counsel and other Bank personnel with administrative matters, such as preparing letters, managing records, and drafting reports.
  • Composes, prepares and issues correspondence such as internal memorandums and letters to customers or contractors.
  • Treats people with respect; keeps commitments; inspires the trust of others; works ethically and with integrity; upholds organizational values; accepts responsibility for own actions. Works collaboratively with Bank leadership and team.
  • Conducts oneself professionally as a bank representative while at work and in public.

The employee shall comply with occupational safety and health standards and all rules, regulations and orders issued pursuant to the OSHA Act of 1970, which are applicable to one’s own actions and conduct.
