Requirements

  • Associate degree or paralegal certificate preferred, or equivalent experience in a legal environment
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of experience as a legal assistant or paralegal
  • Proficiency in legal research databases such as Westlaw or FileVine
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and case management software
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong proofreading abilities
  • Exceptional organizational skills with ability to prioritize multiple deadlines simultaneously
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in document preparation
  • Knowledge of court rules, filing procedures, and legal terminology.
  • Ability to work independently while maintaining collaborative relationships with attorneys and staff

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in Legal Studies or related field
  • Experience with specific practice areas relevant to our firm
  • Familiarity with e-discovery platforms and litigation support software
  • Notary public certification

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and organize case files, legal documents and correspondence in both physical and electronic formats
  • Draft routine legal correspondence, memoranda, and basic legal documents under attorney supervision
  • Schedule depositions, court hearings, client meetings and coordinate calendar management for multiple attorneys
  • Conduct legal research using online databases and law libraries to support case preparation
  • Prepare court filings, ensure proper formatting and deadlines are met, and coordinate service of process
  • Interview clients and witnesses to gather case information and maintain detailed records of communications
  • Assist with document production, including organizing, indexing, and summarizing discovery materials
  • Manage client billing processes, track billable hours, and prepare invoices
  • Coordinate travel arrangements and meeting logistics for legal staff
  • Maintain confidentiality of all client information and privileged communications
