About The Position

Our law firm is currently seeking a qualified applicant to fill the position of Legal Assistant. The Legal Assistant will be responsible for working with an attorney and paralegal/manager to conduct day-to-day operations of the law office, including carrying out administrative services, providing support to the legal team and ensuring that the firm remains in compliance with client and legal regulations. The ideal candidate for this position has a strong work ethic, exceptional problem-solving skills and is comfortable working in a fast-paced and dynamic workplace.

Requirements

  • 1-2 years of legal experience
  • Attention to detail and ability to meet timelines
  • Able to multi-task and prioritize workloads
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to maintain positive working relationships with office staff; must be able to work independently and as a part of a team.
  • Must have strong computer skills and be proficient in Word, Excel, Outlook
  • Must be punctual and reliable
  • Problem solving and decision-making skills

Responsibilities

  • Daily monitoring of the foreclosure actions to confirm if the Final Report and Accounting has been filed and Trustee's Deed recorded If we are not the foreclosing attorney
  • Monitor VCAP for filed Final Report and Accounting
  • Monitor Register of Deeds website for recorded Trustee's Deed
  • Prepare NC Writ Packages
  • Run SCRA & Pacer checks as required by clients when sending the Writ and when preparing the non-military status affidavit
  • Obtain attorney signatures for the Writ documents as well as coordinating notaries for documents that need attorney signatures and for the Occupancy Affidavit and Non-military status affidavit.
  • Request UPS labels for outgoing eviction documents to county clerks
  • Update clients/client systems when the writ is sent and for general status updates
  • Assist with answering phones
  • Assist with NC Judicial Eviction and Summary Ejectments
  • Coordinate attorney coverage for hearing
  • Prepare hearing packages for the attorney
  • Prepare Writ Packages
  • Update clients/client systems of status
