About The Position

Howard & Howard is currently seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Legal Assistant to join our Chicago, IL office. This full-time position offers a dynamic opportunity to support attorneys across all stages of litigation matters, with emphasis in commercial and business litigation. We’re looking for a candidate who brings professionalism, discretion, and strong organizational skills, along with the ability to communicate effectively and collaborate across all levels of the firm. A commitment to accuracy, multitasking, and confidentiality is essential. Compensation will be commensurate with experience.

Requirements

  • High school diploma required
  • Minimum of 2 years of litigation experience
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Exceptional attention to detail and organizational abilities
  • Proficiency in state and federal e-filing procedures and trial preparation
  • Possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills when interacting with attorneys, staff, and clients
  • Ability to manage high-volume workloads with accuracy
  • Team-oriented mindset with a collaborative approach
  • Ability to multi-task and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong command of Microsoft 365

Nice To Haves

  • bachelor’s degree preferred

Responsibilities

  • Electronic filing in state and federal courts as needed.
  • Manage assigned attorneys’ calendars, dockets, and appointments.
  • Maintain and complete attorney time entry and billing.
  • Maintain client files in DMS (Netdocs) as well as the physical file.
  • Screen incoming calls and correspondence and respond as necessary
  • Transcribe dictation and compose and prepare confidential correspondence, reports, and other complex litigation documents.
  • Provide back-up support to other legal assistants as assigned or needed.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all firm and client matters.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
