About The Position

The Office of Jury Commissioner (OJC) is dedicated to providing randomly-selected juror pools that are representative of the community to all jury courts in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. The OJC aims to educate the public about the importance of jury service and to offer courteous, professional service to the public and the courts. This position plays a key role in responding to inquiries about juror delinquency and compensation, managing juror activity records, and compiling legal documents to support the Legal Counsel. The role also involves providing specialized administrative support and customer service to jurors, court personnel, attorneys, and employers.

Requirements

  • Associate's Degree
  • Two (2) years of related work experience
  • Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered for meeting minimum qualifications.
  • Knowledge of modern office equipment and technology, including computers and applicable software.
  • Knowledge of Departmental and court policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
  • Skill in organization and time management.
  • Skill in customer service.
  • Skill in critical thinking.
  • Skill in data entry.
  • Ability to establish effective working relationships with others.
  • Ability to prepare clear and accurate reports.

Responsibilities

  • Responds to telephone and written inquiries regarding juror delinquency and compensation matters.
  • Works with juror activity records in connection with the prosecution of delinquency matters.
  • Provides specialized administrative support to the Legal Counsel, Assistant Legal Counsel, and the Delinquent Juror Prosecution Program Administrator.
  • Provides customer service to jurors, court personnel, attorneys, and employers.
  • Processes and reviews all mail and faxes regarding delinquent jurors.
  • Prepares for hearings, including reviewing documentation and cross referencing.
  • Prepares legal documentation and ensures the court receives court forms.
  • Assists both jurors and employers with juror compensation.
  • Performs other duties as required.
