About The Position

Our Private Wealth & Family Offices Practice specializes in supporting high-net-worth individuals and families worldwide with the accumulation, management, transfer and protection of personal wealth. The Legal Assistant will work directly with the lawyers and the Fiduciary Accountant in Private Wealth practice to perform duties (not all-inclusive) include the following: Prepare and coordinate the filing of pleadings in Surrogate’s Court proceedings; monitor file status, deadlines and developments Assist in the assembly, preparation and filing of trust and estate accountings and federal and state estate tax returns Prepare and/or coordinate the execution of estate planning and related corporate and transactional documents Prepare summaries of estate planning documents Assist in maintenance of the group’s forms library Maintain, and prepare and coordinate the entry and filing of client documents into, the Firm’s client vault Conduct legal research on specific aspects of state trust and estate law and court procedures Assist in onboarding of new matters Qualify to act as a notary public and notarize documents Offsite client visits in connection with document execution and other client requests Assist with preparation of Private Wealth & Family Offices business development and training materials

Requirements

  • Four year college degree with a minimum G.P.A. of 3.5
  • Clear and concise writing skills
  • Well organized and able to meet deadlines
  • Good verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and follow through on projects
  • Ability to work under pressure and with a variety of personalities
  • Willingness and ability to work overtime and long hours, as needed

  • Strong knowledge of all components of Windows Office, including Word, Powerpoint and Excel

Responsibilities
