About The Position

O’Hagan Meyer LLC is looking for an organized and professional Legal Assistant to join our law firm. This individual will provide vital assistance to attorneys by handling case-related tasks, preparing a variety of legal documentation, calendaring, managing case files, scheduling, and management of firm satellite office. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, proficient in legal terminology, understands the electronic filing procedures in Illinois District and Federal Courts, and highly proficient in various software platforms and working independently in a fast-paced environment. This will be full-time, in-office in Park Ridge, IL, with some occasion overtime and weekend hours. O'Hagan Meyer participates in E-Verify. This position is in-person. Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree, Paralegal Certificate or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years of prior work experience as a legal assistant, legal secretary, or related role in litigation.
  • Familiarity with law, legal procedures, and protocols
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, Odyssey, Pacer and ECF Filing Systems.
  • Exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to multitask.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently but also as part of a team.
  • Strong understanding of client confidentiality rules.

Responsibilities

  • Provide administrative support to lawyers in the preparation, review and filing of legal documents such as briefs, appeals, complaints, answers, etc.
  • Conduct thorough case research pertaining to ongoing lawsuits.
  • Communicate with clients on various aspects of case proceedings.
  • Locate, develop, and manage all case relevant information.
  • Draft legal documents including pleadings, discovery, motions, and briefs.
  • Coordinate with legal experts and serve as a liaison for all parties involved.
  • Schedule and prepare materials for court appearances.
  • Assist attorneys in case preparation by creating and maintaining organizational systems for each case.
  • Assist attorneys with trial preparation, develop trial exhibits, and review/organize documents for trial discovery.
  • Maintain attorney schedules and calendars.
  • Other projects and tasks as assigned.
