About The Position

Freeman Mathis & Gary, LLP, a nationally recognized Am Law 200 law firm with more than 500 attorneys, is seeking an experienced Legal Assistant for its Columbus office. The role supports attorneys and clients in a fast-paced environment and calls for strong organization, flexibility, communication, problem-solving, teamwork, and ownership. Successful candidates are helpful, personable, respectful, accountable, organized, timely, discreet, and responsive.

Requirements

At least 2 years of litigation secretarial experience.
Positive attitude and ability to communicate effectively with attorneys, staff, and clients.
Ability to organize and prioritize numerous tasks and complete them under time constraints with minimal supervision.
Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
Must successfully pass a background check and drug screen.

Nice To Haves

Knowledge of iManage and Outlook.

Responsibilities

Draft and review legal correspondence, proofreading for grammar, spelling, punctuation, and formatting errors.
Prepare and collect conflict-of-interest checks, open new files, and maintain client files.
Maintain attorneys’ calendars, including dates of importance.
Handle state and federal court filings, including electronic submissions.
Organize and prioritize multiple tasks and complete them under time constraints with minimal supervision.
Maintain a high level of confidentiality.
Communicate effectively with attorneys, staff, and clients.
