Legal Assistant / Secretary – Tampa, Florida - $65k-$80k
About The Position
Founded in the 1970s, our firm provides litigation and counseling across product liability, commercial and construction disputes, IP, employment, insurance coverage, professional liability, and toxic torts. Our experienced trial lawyers prioritize early case evaluation to guide strategy, enabling efficient resolutions and helping clients avoid unnecessary trial costs. This role involves providing administrative and clerical support to multiple attorneys, including drafting legal documents, managing case files, assisting in trial preparation, and communicating with clients. The position offers a hybrid remote schedule, requiring full-time on-site work for the first 6 months, followed by the flexibility to work remotely from home 2 days per week.
Requirements
- Recent experience as a legal assistant / secretary
- Litigation experience related to insurance defense, personal injury, or casualty
Responsibilities
- Draft, review, revise, prepare, format, and edit comprehensive legal documents, such as pleadings, and other communications for the attorney to review.
- Open new files for new matters and new clients, including running conflict searches for new cases.
- Schedule depositions, hearings, mediations and inspections.
- Federal, state court and agency filings, including e-filing with attorney approval.
- Process vendor invoices.
- Answer questions regarding billing, client budgets, expert invoices, client invoice appeals, etc.
