About The Position

We are in search of a Legal Assistant/Paralegal to join our small but mighty Personal Injury team. The ideal candidate will be highly organized, driven, detail-oriented, and comfortable being responsible for both legal administrative support and paralegal duties associated with managing files through their full life cycle. Requirements

  • Graduate of a Legal Assistant or Paralegal program with 1-2 years of experience.
  • Exceptional organization, attention to detail, time management, and communication skills with the ability to provide exceptional customer service, including patience, empathy, and understanding.
  • Critical thinker, problem solver, self-motivated, and a team player with a positive attitude excited to contribute to a collaborative culture.
  • Adept at using technology such as Outlook and Microsoft Office, with a talent for learning new software quickly.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of personal injury and/or insurance law, and court systems would be considered an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct client intake, open files, and keep files up-to-date and organized.
  • Schedule client meetings, manage Lawyer’s calendar, and coordinate all related documentation and logistics.
  • Draft and prepare pleadings, litigation disclosure, and other court documents.
  • Manage all incoming and outgoing communications, including mail, faxes, and basic inquiries from clients, lawyers, adjusters, etc.
  • Transcribe dictations, prepare and file court documents, correspondence, and other legal paperwork.
  • Request, organize, and manage necessary documentation, such as discovery, undertakings, medical records, etc.
  • Review, analyze, and flag relevant information in file documents for Lawyer review.
  • Assist Lawyer with contacting and interviewing witnesses.
  • Monitor and track all civil procedure deadlines.
  • Update clients on case status.
  • Handle billing and invoicing.
  • Process file settlements and close files.
  • Assist other Personal Injury team members as needed.
