About The Position

Akerman is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Legal Administrative Assistant to support attorneys across Litigation, Commercial Real Estate, and Labor & Employment practices in our Chicago office. The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in complex civil litigation and transactional matters and will thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of complex litigation experience, including familiarity with Illinois and federal rules of civil procedure
  • Experience supporting Labor & Employment attorneys, including preparation of pleadings, correspondence, and administrative filings
  • Some transactional experience, primarily in the areas of commercial real estate and labor & employment matters
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Word
  • Experience with electronic filing in state and federal courts and legal calendaring systems
  • Excellent typing, proofreading, document comparison, TOC/TOA preparation, and organizational skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with attorneys, clients, and staff
  • Meticulous attention to detail, discretion, and confidentiality
  • Ability to work independently, manage a heavy caseload, and multitask in a fast-paced environment

Responsibilities

  • Preparing, formatting, proofreading, and filing litigation and labor & employment documents
  • Maintaining case files and managing deadlines for a heavy litigation caseload
  • Assisting with commercial real estate transactions, including closing documents and correspondence
  • Drafting correspondence, electronic form letters, and other legal documents
  • Coordinating calendars, tracking deadlines, and supporting attorneys across multiple practice areas
  • Other administrative and legal support duties as assigned
