About The Position

The Business School at the University of Colorado Denver (CU Denver) is seeking a Lecturer in the One Year MBA Program. This is a part-time, temporary, non-tenure-track position. The selected Lecturer will teach Applied Economics for Managers, with classes generally limited to three credit hours and taught in various modes including in-person, hybrid, remote, or online. Compensation is $15,000 for one 8-week course. Duties include delivering tailored instruction, preparing rigorous lesson plans, assessing student progress, and adhering to program policies and procedures, including reporting student offenses.

Requirements

  • Master’s or higher degree in finance or closely related field.
  • Recent significant professional, technical, or managerial experience in the discipline related to the teaching assignment; at a minimum, significant experience is interpreted as at least five years of duties and responsibilities.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and orally.
  • Ability to demonstrate exceptional leadership qualities.
  • Ability to effectively plan, establish and implement teaching goals and objectives independently without guidance and direction from other faculty.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees at all levels throughout the institution.
  • Ability to demonstrate relevance through sustained relationships with business via consulting or other significant professional, technical, or managerial experiences in the teaching discipline.

Nice To Haves

  • An earned doctorate in a business or other discipline related to the person’s teaching assignment or relevant terminal degree as reviewed and approved by the tenure and tenure track faculty of the Business School.
  • Knowledge and proficiency in related discipline.
  • Demonstrated interest in mentoring and teaching in related discipline.

Responsibilities

  • Teach Applied Economics for Managers for the Business School at the University of Colorado Denver.
  • Deliver tailored instruction to a variety of language and cultural backgrounds in accordance with prescribed curricular objectives and outcomes.
  • Prepare for each class ahead of time with balanced rigorous lesson plans.
  • Assess student progress according to curricular objectives and outcomes.
  • Adhere to program policies and procedures by reporting student offenses (plagiarism, cheating, absences, etc.).
