About The Position

The University of Colorado Colorado Springs (UCCS) is seeking qualified Lecturers to join the College of Education's Department of Teaching and Learning. This is an evergreen pool for temporary, non-tenure track, part-time positions made semester-by-semester. Qualified applicants will be considered for teaching needs in programs within the Department of Teaching and Learning. Classes primarily meet in-person, on-campus, but courses could also be offered hybrid or online. Appointments are part-time (less than 50%25 time).

Requirements

  • Master's Degree in Education, Curriculum and Instruction, Special Education or closely related field is required.
  • Professional experience in the specific course content area is required.
  • Experience working directly with children in a classroom setting is required.
  • Applicants should either reside in Colorado or be prepared to relocate within two months of starting employment.

Nice To Haves

  • The preferred candidate will have a terminal degree (e.g., PhD, EdD, JD).
  • Current engagement in professional development activities in the specific course content area is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Teach no more than 9 credit hours per semester in various topic areas including Schools, Society, and Diversity; Children’s Literature; Educational Psychology; Inclusive Education Foundations; Literacy, Social Studies, Science, and Mathematics Methods and Content Courses; Child Development; Family Diversity; Early Childhood Center Administration; Child-Centered Inclusive Instruction; Assessment; Universal Design for Learning; Classroom Management; Health and PE for Elem Teachers; Arts Integration for Elem Teachers; Collaboration and Co-Teaching; Gifted and Talented Education; Special Education; Multisensory Education; Language Acquisition; English Second Language for Educators; Field Experience and Practicum.
  • Follow posted syllabus and Canvas content.
  • Effectively use Canvas, an online learning management system.
  • Create highly engaging learning experiences related to course outcomes.
  • Gather and assess evidence of student learning in accordance with course expectations.
  • Use effective distance and online learning methods.
  • Respond to student learning needs in a timely manner.
  • Implement culturally responsive practices.
  • Meet assigned classes or deliver online content consistent with university, college/school, and department policies.
  • Provide instruction consistent with the content and learning objectives of the regular course syllabus and, if appropriate, with department course coordination policies.
  • Be available, either face to face or electronically, to students in assigned classes to provide additional academic support as needed and appropriate for the teaching assignment.
  • Comply with university-wide student evaluation of instruction policies and peer observation policies.
