About The Position

The Department of Theatre, Film, and Media Arts in the College of Arts and Sciences at The Ohio State University is seeking a part-time lecturer in Film and Video Production. The prospective hire will lead a section of the Moving-Image Production Senior Project course (MVNGIMG 4501 and/or 4502), focusing on video production through research and project assignments. This role involves practicing camera, sound, lighting, and editing techniques from pre-production to post-production in both collaborative and individual project-based work. Course meetings are held in-person for 165 minutes per week, with specific meeting times varying by assignment.

Requirements

• Master of Fine Arts degree in film production or related field.
• Knowledge of film/video production, film equipment, and Adobe CCS.

Responsibilities

• Communicate and collaborate with faculty supervisor(s) to carry out course activities and objectives as outlined in an approved syllabus.
• Lead all course meetings, communicate with enrolled students, grade assignments, and submit grades.
• Provide hands-on instruction in practical production skills, including story development, pre-production, directing, cinematography, editing, and sound design.
• Lead group critiques to provide critical feedback on cinematography, editing, lighting, sound, and other production aspects of students' work.
• Offer guidance and mentorship to students, assisting them in developing their creative vision and technical skills in filmmaking.
• Work collaboratively with colleagues within the Moving-Image Production program and the Department of Theatre, Film, and Media Arts to enhance the overall learning experience for students.
