The Salmon P. Chase Center for Civics, Culture, and Society at The Ohio State University is seeking a one-year Lecturer of Civic Thought for the 2026–2027 academic year. This position is for a scholar in a discipline relevant to civic thought who will teach courses advancing the Center's mission, particularly its foundational courses in American civics. The Lecturer will also be actively engaged in the intellectual life of the Center and the University. The Chase Center is dedicated to teaching, research, and public programming concerning Western civilization's core texts and debates, the principles of the American and Ohio political order, and the foundations of responsible leadership and informed citizenship. Faculty at the Chase Center are public-spirited scholars committed to fostering an academic community where civic life and intellectual pursuits thrive. They contribute by teaching and mentoring students, advancing their academic disciplines through scholarship, modeling collegiality, and serving the University and the broader Ohio community. All members are expected to be familiar with and embrace the Center's mission as defined by ORC § 3335.39.
