About The Position

The Business School at the University of Colorado Denver (CU Denver) is seeking a Lecturer in the One Year MBA Program. This is a part-time, temporary, non-tenure-track position. The selected Lecturer will lead the Applied Business Consulting elective, an elective course for students in their summer term. This course is designed to expose students who have completed AMBA 6330 (Consulting in Practice) to the full-scale process of scouting, scoping, and completing a real-world consulting project. Students will work individually to apply concepts from prior required courses to an experiential-learning opportunity and explore the new business development process. The course is scheduled from June 8th, 2026, to August 1st, 2026. Due to the experiential learning structure, there is no set meeting date or time; the lecturer is expected to schedule meetings with students and clients as needed. Student questions and Statement of Work (SOW) review may begin as early as May 2026, as pre-enrollment SOWs are due at least two weeks before the course start date. Duties include delivering tailored instruction in various teaching modes (in person, hybrid, remote, or online), preparing rigorous lesson plans, assessing student progress, and adhering to program policies by reporting student offenses.

Requirements

  • Graduate degree in management, or an MBA.
  • Recent significant professional, technical, or managerial experience in the discipline related to the teaching assignment; at a minimum, significant experience is interpreted as at least eight years of duties and responsibilities.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and orally.
  • Ability to demonstrate exceptional leadership qualities.
  • Ability to effectively plan, establish and implement teaching goals and objectives independently without guidance and direction from other faculty.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees at all levels throughout the institution.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience working in the capacity of a consultant, preferably with an ongoing position that is client facing.
  • Prior experience teaching or guest lecturing in a graduate program on the topic of business.
  • Previous experience collaborating with MBA-level projects, either as a facilitator, participant, or client.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the Applied Business Consulting elective in the One Year MBA program.
  • Deliver tailored instruction to a variety of language and cultural backgrounds in accordance with prescribed curricular objectives and outcomes.
  • Prepare for each class ahead of time with balanced rigorous lesson plans.
  • Assess student progress according to curricular objectives and outcomes.
  • Adhere to program policies and procedures by reporting student offenses (plagiarism, cheating, absences, etc.).
  • Schedule meeting days and times with students and clients of the projects as needed.
  • Be available for student questions and SOW review starting as early as the beginning of May 2026.
  • Assist with the business development aspect of this experiential learning course, based on candidate background and experience.

Benefits

  • Compensation for the Applied Business Consulting course is $300 per student who enrolls in the course.
