About The Position

The College of Literature, Science, and the Arts, and the Department of Asian Languages and Cultures (ALC) at the University of Michigan, invite applications for a LEO Lecturer I – Hindi Language for the Fall 2026 Term. The successful candidate will teach Hindi language courses at any assigned level. This appointment is scheduled to begin on August 24, 2026. Terms and conditions for this position are subject to the provisions of a Collective Bargaining Agreement between the University of Michigan and the Lecturers’ Employee Organization.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in a relevant field such as language pedagogy (in Hindi language preferred), second language acquisition, or linguistics.
  • Native or near-native proficiency in Hindi and English is required.
  • At least one year of experience teaching Hindi independently or worked as a teaching assistant at the college/university level in the US.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with contemporary second language teaching methodologies.
  • Familiarity with instructional technologies.
  • Familiarity with heritage/non-heritage teaching.
  • Familiarity with curriculum development.
  • Typing skills in Hindi.

Responsibilities

  • Teach Hindi language courses at any assigned level.
